Short version. LocalReply has no user accounts. We don't log the posts you read or the replies you generate. The only thing we keep on a server is your License Key mapped to "Pro: yes/no" so the extension knows whether to lift the free quota.
§01 Who we are
"LocalReply" (this extension and the website at redimates.com) is operated by an independent developer. Contact: sean@redimates.com.
§02 What we do not collect
- No name, email, profile, or Reddit account details. We never read your Reddit credentials.
- No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising IDs.
- We do not store the post content you summarize or the replies you generate.
§03 What stays on your computer
The extension keeps a small amount of state in your browser's chrome.storage.local, scoped to the extension only:
- License Key (if you've activated Pro) — so we don't have to ask again.
- License cache — the most recent verification result and timestamp, re-checked every 24 hours.
- Free-tier quota — the count of replies generated this week and the start of the week.
This data never leaves your browser by itself. Uninstalling the extension or clearing site data removes it.
§04 What gets sent to our server (and onward to DeepSeek)
When you press Generate reply, Summarize, or Translate, the extension sends a request to our backend at reddit-localreply.vercel.app/api/*. That request contains:
- The Reddit post title, body, top comments, the comment you're replying to, and the subreddit's rules — read from the page you have open.
- What you typed in your own language (your "intent").
- Your style choice (Casual / Informative / Humorous) and your interface locale.
- Your License Key (only for the generate endpoint, to check Free vs Pro).
Our backend forwards the relevant pieces to DeepSeek (the AI model that produces the reply, summary, or translation). We do not log, store, or retain the request content — it passes through and is discarded after the response is returned. DeepSeek's handling of the request is governed by its own privacy policy.
§05 Payment & license verification
Payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects whatever it needs to bill you (name, email, billing country, payment instrument) under Paddle's privacy policy. We do not see your full card number. After purchase, Paddle sends a webhook to our backend containing your License Key and subscription status; we store only that pair (key → active/canceled) in a managed Redis instance hosted via the Vercel Marketplace (Upstash). We do not link the License Key to a name or email on our side.
§06 Cookies & the website
The marketing site at redimates.com uses no cookies and no analytics. It does load fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google sees your IP address per their terms when fonts are served. The Paddle checkout overlay (only loaded when you click Upgrade) sets cookies under Paddle's policy.
§07 Data retention
- Local browser data: kept until you uninstall or clear it.
- License Key on our server: kept while the subscription is active or canceled (so reactivation works). On request we will delete it within 30 days.
- Generation requests: not retained — they are not written to any database or log.
§08 Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. For Paddle-held data (name, email, billing), contact Paddle. For the License Key on our side, email us at sean@redimates.com with the License Key and we'll delete it.
§09 Children
LocalReply is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the threshold). Do not use the service if you are below the age of consent in your country.
§10 Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and announce the change in the extension. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.
§11 Contact
Questions, deletion requests, or anything else: sean@redimates.com.
